I am currently the Program Manager for Alaska’s Autism and Parent Services Program in the Section of Women’s, Children’s and Family Health (WCFH) since November of 2008.
Before joining WCFH, I was the Family Support Services Manager for the Children’s Hospital at Providence delivering parent navigation services within the hospital and outpatient clinics. I provided social support and program development to meet the children and families needs with acute and chronic illnesses that brought them to the Hospital. Starting in the NICU in 1992, I developed one of the first parent support networks in the United States. Simultaneously, I worked for the American Lung Association of Alaska providing 1:1 smoking intervention counseling, facilitated group smoking cessation efforts; taught providers in rural Alaska and through the Quit Line on helping people in need, and provided train the trainer clinics since 1987.
I enjoy the challenge of improving the system of care for children and families by facilitating partnerships with providers and families. I have lived and worked in Alaska for almost thirty years.
